Alcon Allegretto Wavelight 200Hz

The Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE Excimer Laser was designed based on an ideal that was once only an imagination. The idea was to create a system with shortened surgery times, innovative and reliable eye tracking and a clear ergonomic concept. The Alcon ALLEGRETTO features enhanced pulse frequency of 200 Hz providing even faster treatments. The Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE also includes an eye-tracking system adjusted to the high speed of the laser beam and a cross line projector for precise centration.

Built with pioneering Wavefront Optimized and unique PerfectPulse Technology, the Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE 200 Hz Excimer Laser platform aims to protect quality of vision while providing safety for physician and patient.

Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE PerfectPulse Technology

Safety and Precision

• The Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE Excimer Laser systems apply PerfectPulse Technology to help ensure safe and precise work at a high speed.
• Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE PerfectPulse Technology simply means that every laser pulse is completely controlled from its generation to the point when it contacts the cornea.
• Each ultra-thin laser pulse is used to sculpt the corneal surface with the utmost precision.
• In order to further enhance the precision of the treatment, the Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE PerfectPulse Technology uses advanced high-speed eye-tracking to follow the eye’s fastest movements and to help ensure an accurate placement of each laser pulse on the cornea.
• During the treatment, the energy stability of every pulse in the Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE is controlled on the basis of a smart energy control program which automatically balances the energy levels to ensure that each laser pulse creates the same accurate result.

Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE Aspheric Ablation – True Optical Zones

• In order to maintain the patient’s refraction and corneal curvature, it is important to understand the behavior of every laser pulse when it meets the eye. When laser light contacts the center of the cornea, it is fully absorbed. However, in the periphery, the angle of incidence resulting from the cornea’s curved shape may cause energy reflections.
• The Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE Excimer Laser systems apply additional pulses in these peripheral areas to compensate for the energy loss, and to achieve the desired post-operative aspheric contour even in the outer areas of the cornea. In order to precompensate for the possible induction of spherical aberrations, the Alcon ALLEGRETTO applies even more pulses depending on the patient’s individual corneal steepness.
• The effect of higher-order aberrations increases with pupil size. Hence the effective optical zone size should correspond with the pupil. Large transition zones induce higher-order aberrations, thereby fostering vision problems such as halos and glare.
• Controlling the peripheral ablation allows the Alcon ALLEGRETTO WAVE Excimer Laser system to create large, true optical zones with a minimized transition zone.
• By treating larger optical zones with a diameter of up to 8 mm, post-operative glare and halos may be minimized.
